Aaron Judge doesn’t put ‘any weight into’ Little League coach’s surprise criticism

Aaron Judge chose not to respond directly to the Staten Island Little League coach who strangely called him out for allegedly not spending enough time with his players during the Yankees’ appearance at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. on Sunday.

“I don’t put any weight into the comments,” Judge said Wednesday. “I play in front of 40,000 fans every single night  and get booed if I go 0-for-1.”

His reaction stemmed from South Shore Little League coach Bob Laterza telling silive.com that Judge didn’t interact with his players when they called to him from their seats during the Yankees’ loss to Detroit.

“How about turning around or wave to New York and the kids that think you’re a hero,’’ Laterza told the site. “They are the ones who pay your salary.”

Judge, along with many other Yankee players, spent time with little leaguers from around the country and others did attend a prearranged session with the Staten Island team.

Judge said he was made aware of Laterza’s comments Tuesday.

“I’m not gonna give him a response because it’s about the kids,” Judge said. “That’s what it’s all about. We got a chance to spend a lot of time with quite a few kids in Williamsport, make some great memories had a great time at the game, besides the loss, so I kind of want that to be the focus.”
